Ravenfreak Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 Way back in the early 90's Sega released their full color handheld called the Game Gear! Though it wasn't the first hand held device to have color, that was the Atari Lynx it still was an impressive handheld. It did eat up batteries way too fast though, so it was better to play it when it was plugged in. Honestly I feel that is one of the reasons why it didn't do well against the Gameboy. Plus when Pokemon came out, the Gameboy became super popular again though the handheld itself was almost a decade old when Pokemon first came out in countries outside of Japan. I have two and both probably need new capacitors now since they are prone to leaking. Sonic Chaos is my favorite game on the Sega Game Gear btw. Did you have one of these back in the day?
Nomad Posted March 24, 2024 Posted March 24, 2024 Game Gear was released in response of Game Boy, but I never used Game Gear or Game Boy. When these handheld consoles were popular I was not playing games. I started playing games in the early 2010 when handheld deices were completely taken by Playstation.
Heatman Posted March 29, 2024 Posted March 29, 2024 Even though I played on several Sega consoles like Genesis and Satrun, I never got into playing with the Sega handheld Game Gear. This was because I used to be a fan of Gameboy. I even still have my Gameboy and GBA console till today.
